1) I love the idea on the building names. Very campy.
2) I would love to have another blog or add to this blog some family updates and pics!
3) Happy Holidays!

Insulation Celebration!
I spent some time at camp last weekend. I removed the insulation that we installed in error in the roof peak, and continued placing it where it should be. There's about 6 inches of snow, but I was still able to pull in the driveway with the Jeep. I'll try to get down again soon to continue with insulation. Mike Stender will be helping us install the wood stove, or at least the granite hearth and such.
What ever we call this new building, it should be short and sweet. what about "winter camp"? We could also think about formal names for the cabins, noted with signs, but then use informal names on a day to day basis. So we might have the "Carroll H. Savage Lodge" that we just refer to as the "Lake House". and we could have the "Shirley G. Savage Lodge" which we just refer to as the "Hill House" or "The Lodge." In the end, it's not my decision, but I hope we will consider several alternatives before deciding. More Later! Cheers!

Here are some photos from April 2008 when we finished staining the boat house. The weather was in the 70's and sunny but when we first arrived there was still ice in the bay! It sure was cold when we had to move the ladder around. Project attendees were Petey, Karl, Garry, Jamie & Jay. Thanks to Bill M. for completing the trim during the July 4th weekend.

New Building Progress
I have some photos that I took of the new building (by the way--Jake and I think we should call it the Shirley G. Savage Lodge or SGS Lodge or just Lodge for short) when I was there October 3-6. I'm not sure if I'll be successful attaching these photos but I'll do my best. The bathroom is complete--the walls are done and waiting on paint, the floor is completely finished and the fixtures are installed. Garry, Jamie and I installed some of the insulation but Tom Thibado, our contractor, pointed out that we did not need to put insulation in the peak of the roof. The rest of camp was looking pretty good. It was a little chilly and of course it rained off & on. I managed to get in the lake for a very brief bath--I'm looking forward to hot water although a bath in the lake is part of the camp experience.

Paint it Green!
Thanks for the calendar, Erica! I went down to Camp on Sunday to visit Jay and do some painting on the new cabin. It's over half painted now, and Jay and Garry hope to finish it this week. Karl has done an amazing job on the wiring. nice work! I took some measurements so I can get some estimates on interior flooring and paneling, and I'll be purchasing the wood stove soon (after my trip to Alberta!). Thanks for everyone's contributions to the wood stove fund to date.
So what do we call this new cabin??? I propose "Hill House" or "Hill-Hut." We could call the current (original) cabin the "Lake House." Or we could steal the "Royal Savage Inn" for the new cabin and call the outhouse the "Pee-Hut." What do y'all think? ~Jamie

Jay's Camp Update
I'll have photos to post later.
The building looks great and is very strong. Garry and I made a slight change to the plans that will add a shedd dormer to the front of the sleeping area. The view from those windows will be above a lot of the trees. We have received our first construction bill which is mostly in line with our expectations. I have purchased the hot water heater and Garry is working on the rest of the bathroom fixtures. On our way home we stopped and met Chip Sauers (the guy that will do the drainage and septic tank) and he has promised me an estimate by tomorrow (8/13). With luck the bathroom and plumbing may be a realty by the end of September.
Later I will share the highlights of Tynan's, Jake's and my week at camp. The lowlight was rain every day but we did have sun everyday so it turned out to be a pretty good week.
I'll be back at camp on Friday 9/12 with a few golfers for Adirondack Golf and camp project.

Hi there
I am going to post some pics of the building and Dad's weekend at 7th.
Looks like it was a great time...I can't believe how different that building looks compared to just 3 weeks ago!

next challenge: the calendar.
hi,
glad you like the blog! now, how do we post a live calendar we can update and show when people are gonna be up there? i would love to do that.
it is so hot right now in philly, i want to crawl under my desk and stay there. i have to spray the sunblock on before i walk across penn's campus!
time to get back to work. we are adding cafes in the Vet School and the Law School so we are working on contract details, and it is very interesting! i get to hang out at the Vet Hospital for meetings and see dogs and cats hanging in the waiting room! so cute.
xxoo, ricky

Have Rain, Will Blog
I have to admit, I've avoided all opportunities to 'blog' until now. I guess it's time I get on board with the 21st century. This may prove to be good/efficient way to post timely updates and photos about camp. It's worth a try. thanks for setting it up, Erika!
It's funny to see this photo from Black Bear Mt. I was just playing a song earlier today that I wrote about Black Bear Mt. and 7th Lake. I wrote it a couple years ago, but it will be on my next CD, along with some other fun 'Adirondack' stuff. Hi to all. hope to see you at Camp sometime soon. ~jms

Great Idea!
Thanks for setting this up, Ricky baby. It looks great. Hopefully I'll get up to 7th this year but until then I'll be at the beach. The ocean's above 75 degrees today.

Hi all,
I decided it would be cool if we all had a place to post pics of 7th, the new building as it comes along, camp & savage family news, and more.
Send pics! I will email you the login and password for the blog.
Enjoy!
